Norooz and Goldfish - AM3 Holiday Challenge

Posted by
Visual Vortex (Tehran, Iran) on 1 January 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

My first photo in 2009 for "Am3 (INTER-FAITH) HOLIDAY CHALLENGE" issued by Sandy. She's my wonderful friend!

The archetypal goldfish of our Haft-sin for Norooz, turning into BW!
I know no archetypes! Well, maybe I do. Just want to make new archetypes of my own every now and then...

Norooz means "a new day" and it marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the Iranian new year.
And [Sîn] doesn't mean sin! It represents the 15th letter in the Persian alphabet!

I was going to post something about Yalda (Solstice), and yesterday -11 days after Yalda!- I took some photos of Divan-e-Hafez, and my FAl-e Hafez on Yalda night, but I changed my mind.
Actually I didn't take many photos on the Yalda night. Maybe because most of the times I can't do my best when people begin to notice me.

I took this photo on 2007/03/19, about one month after I got my first digital camera (A710 IS). It was the 1336th shot!
I'm posting the third consecutive photo taken with my old camera. Any idea why I don't stick to the new one?

It's been about 7 months that I'm part of this great community. Thank you for all your comments and messages. You are the best support anyone can get. And believe me, it's rare.

Wish you a very happy new year!
It might be merely a fantasy - specially in our times- but I wish PEACE, EQUALITY, JUSTICE, HOPE and LOVE for ALL.
I'm pre-posting this, and right now in the middle of the night I can hear the rain falling. Where is our redemption?

It will end up being such a long post (longer than it is right now!) if I try to link all the great comments and responses I got from you, but I can't end this post without a special thanks to Jack Larson. I will never forget your great response.
And to Grahame, for his wonderful response.
